Company Profile
Chenango Animal Hospital
Company History
Dr. Wilcox grew up in Port Dickinson then attended Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Wilcox practiced in Glens Falls, New York before purchasing land on Upper Front Street in Binghamton. On Upper Front Street he built a hospital that operated as a mixed animal practice. The hospital was utilized for surgery and small animal use. Three ambulatory trucks were utilized for farm calls during the day.
In the late 1970s Dr. Wilcox sold the large animal portion of the practice to one of his associate veterinarians and Chenango Valley became exclusively a small animal practice. The practice was primarily a two-doctor practice until 1985 when a third doctor was added. In 1986 Dr. Mark Silverio joined the practice. Dr. Christopher Allen purchased the hospital in 1988. During the 1990s, the practice continued to grow requiring an addition be added to their building.
Dr. Silverio purchased the hospital from Dr. Allen in 1999 and changed the name to Chenango Animal Hospital. Over the next decade Dr. Silverio introduced state-of-the-art equipment to the hospital. In 2007, the hospital became a four-doctor practice with the addition of Dr. Maureen Gaylord. Three years later Dr. Gaylord became a full partner. The practice continued to expand and eventually outgrew the building on Upper Front St. In 2010 Chenango Animal Hospital moved in to its current location on Chenango Bridge Rd. Dr. Silverio and Dr. Gaylord have striven to continue with the most up-to-date medicine and are excited by the growing number of services they can offer to pets and clients.
